I just had to post this as this was an element of a recent response I got in regards to the matter. The rest of the email was basically, "Read the forums. We're not doing squat. Live with it."

To whom it may concern,
In regards to the following response:
> Subject: RE: MAG BPO Dropsuits [20130515-3228802-D029039F] > From: [email protected] > To: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX > Date: Wed, 15 May 2013 10:02:45 +0000 > > Petition: MAG BPO Dropsuits > > You can follow up on your petition on: > https://community.eveonline.com/support/petitions/my-petitions/details/?id=3228802 > > > > 2013.05.15 10:03:00 GM Bambi > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Hello, > > Thank you for contacting DUST 514 Customer Support. > > The reason that your 'MAG' dropsuit BPOs were not refunded can be found in the DEV Blog post below: > > http://dust514.com/news/blog/2013/05/uprising-skill-point-re-spec-details/ > > Please note the specific part that states: > > "Also, important to note, any PSN items (such as the Mercenary Pack), Militia BPOs (which are not being changed), and any in-game event items (such as the Black Eagles, Skinweave and Quafe Dropsuits) will NOT be removed from your Assets." > _________________________________-
My only concern with CCP's reaction, or inaction, to the situation is that the suits WERE changed, thus nullifying the claim that such items should not be refunded in some form.
With their SP requirements altered severely from a few thousand Skill Points to a couple million each, they've been made virtually, if not entirely useless.
I am sincerely concerned if this is the future CCP intends on following, making an open statement that "long term and meaningful decisions" which they have been promoting for the entirety of the DUST 514 development will only negatively impact the players as things we invest in are in no way future-proof from severe alterations to the game and related in-game elements.

The second part is my final response to them on the situation. Look, I don't mind being stuck with the suits. I had actually hoped for a refund to move them back to my main character so they're not stuck on now useless ALTs. But with their SP cost, they're utterly useless, even to anyone who got them as part of the Tribute Merc Pack which was still an investment whether forums agree or not.
The point is that if there's no sense of security in investment of items in-game then there's NO reason to spend real money on such items whatsoever.
If CCP can't realize that, then they really need to rethink their marketing strategies once players get smart to the fact. The issue is that most players are and will continue to be idiots and won't think about this.
I imagine the whole point of the recent "Commercial Release" was to do away with people threatening legal recourse against CCP for their poor response to real customer issues.

I have to apologize for sharing secret private messages sent by CCP.
I was a bit on edge about the situation and their response to the matter, but that doesn't permit me to break forum conduct which I agreed to in order to participate in both the game and the forum community.
I appreciate that CCP doesn't feel it necessary to fully censure me and will accept the criticism I made, even if they don't really care one way or the other.
Thank you for reminding me of this element and I apologize for any inconvenience in regards to the matter. And thank you for still maintaining dignity by allowing some harsh criticisms of your actions recently. We probably forget it as players but you're probably under unimaginable stress compared to the rest of us suddenly worried about so-and-so coming after such-and-such district.
Sorry about that CCP, but thanks for protecting my right to voice an opinion. Props to you. |
